The Commodity giveaway was held last Saturday, January 28th at the Triangle Freight Building, starting at 9 a.m. We served 126 families with 212 people in those families. Sometimes people do not get the same thing in their boxes because we run out of a certain item and have nothing to replace it with, but we distribute as fairly as possible each giveaway. The giveaway is on a first come, first served basis.

I would like to thank the following volunteers for their unselfish help each month: Carrie Durkee, Florence Fletchall, Robert VanMetre, Rick MacNees, Wes Watkins, Jan Luff, Kelly Mason, Joe & Becky Johnson, Bonnie Haddock, Ryan Wade, and Shirley Smith. A special thanks to Butch Wade for the use of the Triangle Freight Bldg. to store and distribute the commodities.

The Commissioners have allocated money in 2012 for the commodities program to help with the expenses of the use of the Triangle Freight Bldg. and we thank them for their generosity. If anyone in the community would like to help with our program, all donations will be cheerfully and thankfully received.

The next commodity giveaway will be in March unless the USDA allocates us more commodities before then. We will put an article in the paper and on this website when we know for sure.
